Abstract

 

In an increasingly globalized world, it is required that public policies addressed to the National Education System, and especially at the level of higher education, these policies should be consistent with the historical moment and with the needs of the group, thus fulfilling its responsibility Social. Through the review of literature sources of government plans and political programs, could collect information related to public policy in higher education and social relevance. A literature search was performed and was employed as a technical literature review. The presentation of the information was through a thoughtful qualitative analysis. In this test it was concluded that the university is one of the most dynamic and important institutions with potential to mediate in economic, social and political structures; becoming therefore the main actor of the development process of the country.
