From the rise of the information society, talking about knowledge management implies delving into the diversity of thoughts to address specific problems of educational work, where research requires, at the present time, critical researchers, capable of problematizing reality. environment equipped with technological tools present in Revolution 4.0. For its part, the university, in its role as a generator of knowledge, must become aware of the backward state of academic development, immersed in a society that is advancing by leaps and bounds, where the creation of networks (networking) impacts the structure organization supported by new paradigms of creation, dissemination and ways of sharing knowledge. This article was framed in the context of Social Sciences, specifically, in knowledge management, based on the particular vision about research in the educational context within the digital society full of virtuality. The current situation as a result of the crisis generated by the COVID19 pandemic was addressed; which in the long run makes the panorama difficult, opening a range of possible digital scenarios that challenge the educational system. The thematic orientation revolved around answering the question of how knowledge management should be in the educational contexts typical of the 4.0 revolution, where the production of knowledge should serve to transform social relations and, at a macro level, arouse the interest of the organizations responsible for the education.
