Abstract

Euthanasia is a practice that has been present in humanity since ancient times, and whose purpose has given rise to countless debates, with particular emphasis on bioethics; it is the subject of continuous reflection due to the constant evolution of social paradigms. Also known as soft death or dignified death, it is currently seen as an aspect of great relevance, whose inclusion in legal normative bodies gives rise to expectations. This article aims to reflect on euthanasia, recreating its connection with life, human dignity and the autonomy of the person. The investigative method is framed within the documentary paradigm, and the study is supported by a methodical and analytical sequence of theoretical references, from which conclusions emerged that highlight the importance of legally regulating this practice and establishing euthanasia as an individual right in situations of illness and inevitable suffering
