Abstract

This research seeks to unveil of revealing the role that self-learning in distance education mediated by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) represents for the University in order to be updated in a world of uncertainties marked by the change in the knowledge society. The method was based on the interpretive paradigm, through critical hermeneutics, applying the technique of thematic analysis of the relevant topics of the study. It was concluded that the University needs to strengthen the autonomy of learning, teaching learning to learn in order to be autonomous and strategic professionals in their future professional work, which leads to provide them with the necessary tools to be competitive in the knowledge society.
