READ AT THE UNIVERSITY: SOME REFLECTIONS TO IMPROVE YOUR PRACTICE
Keywords:
academic reading, university education, academic genres, thinking, learningAbstract
Academic reading in the university has managed to position itself as a process inherent to the students´ learning and training at this level. This premise, although approached with sufficient breadth in studies on reading practices that are carried out in this context, has not ceased to represent a concern for university professors, who in their didactic interventions try to develop practices in which students read and understand what they read, develop criticisms and opinions of the contents of the discipline to which they join academically. In this sense, the essay presented below exposes some reflections on the relevance of reading in university, because of its significant and situated practice, the consolidation of the competencies necessary to participate in the academic culture and scientific practices that are part of the university work. As a contribution, it follows that training at the university consists in being able to interpret, deduce, analyze and understand complex content that determine their competent admission to the ways in which the academic genres of their discipline are organized and produced.
