Abstract

In addition to permanent updating, in the management of Distance Education in Venezuela, ubiquity must be considered, since the scope of an approach with social relevance, pedagogical effectiveness and impact strategies depends on it. This leads to thinking about the incorporation of technological advances as pedagogical resources of interest to students. Among these is Augmented Reality, whose applications are beneficial in the recognition of information in real time. For this reason, an exploratory study is carried out to analyze the experiences, advantages, and restrictions of practicing with augmented reality in classrooms, virtual classrooms and laboratories. The findings show the existence of restrictions regarding the availability of advanced mobile devices, however, the benefits are greater and counteract this difficulty. The advantages highlighted are the possibility of having free QR code readers and generators for laptops, and not only for mobile devices, energy optimization, and speed of access from any interface. At the universities of Virginia and California, Augmented Reality resources have been tested with good academic results in the teaching of Medicine, Engineering, and Architecture, for example. Augmented Reality applications are included as collaborative tasks that enhance the development of skills for research, writing, problem solving and communication. It is verified that the insertion of Augmented Reality technology in science teaching will be able to place the Venezuelan university on equal terms with respect to universities in other countries, managing to offer students classrooms and laboratories equipped with updated technology, at low cost and with high pedagogical potential.
