Abstract

This research, as a result of a documentary review, aims to integrate the voices around global citizenship education, specifying the elements on which its purposes are based, the institutional actions as well as the commitment to the formation of a new feeling-thinking citizen open to the understanding of human supra-complexity. This involved consulting primary sources (referring authors) and complementary sources regarding global coexistence, which, placed in epistemic dialogue, contributed to the configuration of the core conditions based on which to achieve dignified human coexistence in the future. Also, strategic dimensions are proposed that give space to global conviviality, namely: effective social inclusion, fundamental rights, ethical-morality, sociocultural diversity and respect for pluralisms, as requirements to achieve fraternal and respectful welcoming that demands the recognition of unity in particularities, the sense of the unique and the common, a starting point to consolidate sensitive human bonds, bonds of reconciliation and the flexible disposition to practice effective inclusion. It is concluded that citizenship education as a permanent process throughout life, refers to the possibility of uniting humanity around the commitment to safeguard human dignity based on respect for personal autonomy, for the freedom to express worldviews and belongings without restrictions, as well as exercising in full conditions the enjoyment of fundamental rights that guarantee functional performance in any dimension of society.
