The aim of this investigation was to perform a digital research of methods and approaches from research papers used by dentistry students of Jose Antonio Paez University. A Sample of 50 papers was obtained from the university’s virtual library. Descriptive analysis was used in function of approach, design, statistic and subject or area. Result shows a great number of quantitative non-experimental transversal descriptive papers, mostly in bucodental and prevention health, surgery and orthodontics. It’s recommended more research lines and better designs in order to obtain highly recommended evidence-based information
