Abstract

Venezuela has a thousand rivers, 124 of them have basins larger than 1,000 km². One of these basins feeds the Generous Capilongo Reservoir known by its inhabitants as the Guárico Reservoir. This dam sustains the entire population of the Guárico State, whose waters are treated and made drinkable at the Páez Hydrological Plant (Hidropaez) in order to guarantee that it is suitable for use. human consumption, minimizing treatment costs as much as possible. Situation that does not happen in reality because the Guárico Reservoir has a considerable degree of contamination that forces the company to go beyond the simple removal of particles, since the deterioration of one of its sources implies higher costs both in its own recovery as in the treatment of its waters. From the foregoing arises the need to develop a methodology to achieve optimization based on real conditions and based on socio-economic limits, in such a way that the use of new technologies is not essential, which are commonly accompanied by large investment of money.
