ETHIMOLOGICAL AN EPISTEMOLOGICAL APROXIMATION TO THE AUTONOMY NOTION

The notion of autonomy has been one of the many points of tension theory of Venezuelan society in recent years. Attempts by the executive to rethink the relationship of autonomous public universities in the state have opened a heated discussion in this regard. This article presents a review of the etymological and epistemological notion of autonomy in order to show the complexity of this conceptual discussion guide decisions and practices that resulted from this matter could be taken. This revises the etymological origin of the concept of autonomy and then outlines the philosophical notions of the most influential thinkers of Western modernity, such as Kant, Hegel, Marx, Fouault, Husserl and Habermas. Finally, the article shows how autonomy ends up being a concept that crosses a decisive theoretical most controversial areas of human beings, like politics, ethics and epistemology.
