Development strategies in Latin America and Venezuela: analysis of the Regional Planning Observatory

The present study whose objective was to analyze development planning in Latin America and Venezuela, as contemplated by the Regional Development Planning Observatory (ORPD). It is a documentary investigation based on the search, compilation and critical analysis of information, academic data and bibliography related to the topic addressed. It was reflected that the ORPD is a vital tool to promote sustainable economic and social development in Latin American countries. In the case of Venezuela, development has been marked by a lack of coherence and long-term sustainability, economic dependence on oil, lack of public and private investment, absence of productive diversification and persistent social and economic inequality. That is why it is of utmost importance to continue promoting and strengthening the ORPD, to achieve a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable region. It should be noted that urban development in Latin America presents great challenges in terms of planning, management and investment, but it also offers opportunities to promote more inclusive, sustainable and livable cities through integrated and participatory public policies.
