Abstract

Introduction: During the COVID-19 pandemic, teleworking was implemented as an organizational strategy in agri-food companies, without prior evaluation of working conditions, which caused an increase in consultations for visual disturbances. The working conditions, ocular symptoms and visual alterations in the teleworkers were determined. Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive research. Population: 31 Technology and Information workers, census sample. 23 workers met inclusion criteria: exposure to digital display screens, assets during the pandemic, and research. Instruments: Technical Guide Evaluation and prevention of risks related to the use of display screen equipment (2021). Specific Health Surveillance Protocol (1999), CVSS Questionnaire17 (2014). Descriptive analysis using measures of central tendency. Results: Females predominated, mean age ±40.7, length of employment ±6.2 years. Risk factors: organizational, 100% used the computer between 6-8 hours a day. Physical and Di ergonomic: the seat, screen-keyboard and computer/worker interconnection, noise, reflections-glare and heat. Level of ocular symptomatology: moderate (91%). Refractive problems: Myopia (67%) and Astigmatism (55%). 22% increase in the use of lenses after the start of teleworking. Discussion: The working conditions of teleworkers during the pandemic are similar in population, sex and organizational form. Physical and disergonomic factors are involved in the appearance of ocular symptoms. Conclusions: The conditions of home work are inadequate and ocular alterations were generated with an increase in the use of corrective lenses.
