Abstract

Cognitive Linguistics studies language in direct relation to the thought, the world and the experience of those who make use of it. Therefore, it has increased its scientific contributions around written production; considering that a textual producer is communicatively competent when he adopts it as a process of linguistic function of combination of discursive modes that constitute a wide variety of discourses that are dependent both on the levels of the logical organization of ideas and on the representative abstraction in the cohesion and coherence of the content treated. From there, it was intended to explain the cognitive strategies used by the students (X Cohort) of the Specialization in Teaching in Higher Education of the UJAP in the written production of coherent and cohesive academic texts. The theoretical corpus was the Written Production exposed by Cassany (1993), the Academic Texts argued by Padrón (1996), the Coherence and Cohesion addressed by Widdowson (1984), the Theory of Cognitive Processes from the philosophy of Bandura (1985), the Cognitive Strategies studied by Rios (2004), and the Communicative Competence described by Girón and Vallejo (1992). Regarding its methodological approach, the qualitative paradigm was used, with a type of hermeneutical research. The subjects of the research were five (05) students of the EDES program. For the data collection, the techniques of semi-structured interview and observation of the written text were used, through the interview script tools and the record sheet for textual category.
