Abstract

The environment includes the set of natural, social and cultural values existing in a place, which influence the life of human beings. Currently there is a global concern about the protection of the environment, which has led universities to develop a series of objectives that allow them to establish environmental management mechanisms, in order to promote values and attitudes of conservation and protection in their students and community in general. Within these objectives, the creation of environmental policies constitutes one of the first steps that allows you to establish an environmental culture based on your needs and principles. Within these principles is that of cooperation, which is based on the integration of important social groups in the definition and fulfillment of environmental goals. In universities, these social groups form microclimates that condition the development of activities that can arise from the implementation of policies. The purpose of this work was to evaluate social microclimates as fundamental elements in the development of environmental policies in a higher education institution. As a methodology, field research was used, through information collection techniques such as direct observation, surveys and unstructured interviews. Environmental variables were analyzed such as interpersonal relationships in their ethical, psychological and communication dimensions, as well as the influence of the organizational and physical structure on their work and social relationship.
