ATTITUDINAL COMPETENCES OF THE TEACHER FOR TRAINING IN NON-FORMAL ENVIRONMENTS

The way of learning has changed in the new generations and requires a transformation of the didactic strategies in the different educational environments to respond to the current requirements of society in general. Competent performance is determined by the harmonious interrelationship of concepts, procedures, and attitudes. Given that today the procedures and concepts quickly become obsolete, the attitudinal component becomes a determining factor of that competent performance. Traditionally, the development of skills is associated with formal educational contexts, however, the influence of agents other than institutions such as social networks and technological platforms is recognized every day. This symposium is presented to sensitize professionals who teach in University Education about the value of the attitudinal component in the comprehensive training of citizens of the 21st century. To this end, a set of illustrative experiences was selected in face-to-face and blended courses at the José Antonio Páez University, combined with social networks, at the undergraduate and postgraduate level during 2010 and 2011 with participant observation in curricular units at the Faculty of Education and in expansion courses and teacher training, to determine the attitudinal components that produce successful results in formal and non-formal educational environments, so the research approach is phenomenological interpretive. The results highlight flexibility, tolerance, acceptance of change, creation of an affable environment, mastery of situations, being enthusiastic and fostering commitment in the participants, as fundamental attitudes desirable in the virtual and face-to-face teacher.
